The fact that Google has reported massive quarterly profits today ($1.6 billion to be precise) is no real surprise. This is up 27% on the same quarter last year and was bound to happen.
Years ago you would have to drug a client (not literally of course) to get them to entertain the idea of marketing on the Internet and to move away from more traditional approaches to marketing, now businesses all seem to know the value – so no hard sell needed.
I predict that Google will continue to increase profits dramatically as everybody clambers aboard. Bids for some key phrases are going through the roof as competition hots up for top spot.
If only Bing has come out with something more revolutionary and different they might have dented the massive Google dominance. Let’s face it Google will only be toppled by something revolutionary – Apple come on, where is your new search engine you have been secretly working on?
